Leftside Printing is more than a full service print shop. It is a Richmond institution, hub for residents to access resources, headquarters for Richmond SOL, and the embodiment of the city’s motto of “Pride and Purpose.” Diego Garcia and his family have operated Leftside Printing for nearly 20 years, first on 23rd Street and now in Downtown Richmond at 1420 Macdonald Avenue, fulfilling orders for custom screen printed shirts and uniforms, banners, flyers, logo design, and more.

When the COVID19 pandemic shut non-essential businesses and cancelled events and sports activities–just 3 days after the grand opening for their new location in Downtown–Leftside Printing experienced an immediate and drastic drop in sales. “Most of our business that we do is small runs…one or two shirts or banners or stickers that people would like to have,” shared Garcia in their Heart of Richmond profile in June.
Although the business and family were impacted financially, the Garcias immediately thought of the needs of the community first and partnered with Richmond Main Street to launch a free banner program to area businesses. As health guidelines and reopening protocols rolled out, Leftside Printing kept innovating to meet the needs of residents and businesses. Demand for banners, social distancing signage and decals, and face masks have increased and now make up the bulk of their orders.
Richmond Main Street and Leftside Printing are partnering again to provide PPE for Downtown businesses and residents. Our Travis Credit Union Foundation campaign is currently raising funds to purchase hand sanitizer, masks, and face shields from local manufacturers and distribute them to the Downtown community free of charge. Now through September 30, you can help protect lives and livelihoods by donating to our campaign. 100% of your contribution will go towards this important cause and will be matched dollar for dollar by Travis Credit Union Foundation!
