Richmond Main Street Kicks off a “Salute to Soul” at 17th annual Music on the Main

Richmond, CA—Downtown Richmond is set to come alive with soulful sounds of R&B, Funk and Zydeco at the 17th annual Music on the Main summer concert series on Wednesdays, July 25 and August 22 from 5pm – 7:30pm.

Music on the Main, produced by Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI), is the organization’s longest running community event, bringing together a diverse crowd people from Richmond and surrounding communities in the heart of Downtown Richmond. 

RMSI invites everyone to Downtown to enjoy music, food, and fun for the entire family. The series kicks off on July 25 with spirited music performances by the Pied Piper of the Bay, Kymberly Jackson bringing her soulful sounds on flute and vocals to the stage. Headlining the show on the 25th is the Bay Area’s premier soul and R&B band Top Shelf.  They will serenade the crowd with classics that will have everyone singing and dancing in the street.

The celebration continues on August 22 with local son turned world-renowned Zydeco king Andre Thierry and Steven Green & The Lifeline, serving up authentic and eclectic gospel stylings.

Both concerts will also feature a beverage booth serving up refreshing Main Street Margaritas and hometown brews by East Brother Beer Company, with proceeds of sales benefitting RMSI. Concert-goers of all ages are sure to enjoy a diverse array of artisan and food vendors offering unique items and delicious eats, informational booths, interactive activities, youth zone, free book faire, giveaways, prizes, and Freshest Cargo Mobile Farmers’ Market.

Admission is FREE; all ages are welcome. The event is conveniently located near the Richmond Transit Station on Marina Way at Macdonald Avenue home to BART, Amtrak, AC Transit, R-Transit, and BikeLink lockers.

Music on the Main is sponsored by San Francisco Bay Ferry, Mechanics Bank, The California Endowment, Sims Metal Management, Chevron Richmond, AC Transit, Ghilotti Bros., Republic Services, EBMUD, and City of Richmond. Additional support comes from volunteers and the Downtown Richmond Property and Business Improvement District (DRPBID).
