This post contains information originally published in Supervisor John Gioia’s eUpdate from March 31, 2020. We offer huge thanks to Supervisor Gioia and his team for all their hard work and commitment in keeping everyone in our community safe and informed during this challenging time!
Bay Area Health Officers have ordered an extension of the shelter-in-place restrictions until May 3rd.
This means that the stay-at-home, business closures, and other social distancing measures we are all practicing must be continued until May 3rd. Please note: this date may be extended.
We are doing a great job following the original order. We know that this is not easy and many in our community are facing serious hardship right now.
But more must be done to make sure our community remains healthy and our medical care facilities aren’t overwhelmed. Our actions will prevent serious illness and death!
The jurisdictions issuing this extension include the counties of Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda, Marin, and San Francisco, and the City of Berkeley. (Berkeley has its own health department.)
We will get through this together!
