That’s a wrap! 18 seasons of Music on the Main — of activating spaces and building community in Downtown Richmond with music, food, and family fun — are now for the record books. Last night’s concert was incredible! For two and a half hours, the Marina Way parking lot was packed with vendors, activities, and residents. Music emanated from the stage, bringing people of all ages to the dance floor: we grooved to old school favorites by GTS Band, we joined the SAMBAFUNK! drumline, and got our Zumba on with Grand Marshal Melvin Willis. We got creative with Stonyfield Organics, had fun with vegetables with Fresh Approach, and made new friends.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out to dance with us and big love to all our volunteers, vendors, performers, partners, and our sponsors for making this event possible: Kaiser Permanente, Mechanics Bank, San Francisco Bay Ferry, Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union, LifeLong Medical Care, AC Transit, Chevron Richmond, Republic Services, Richmond Build, and City of Richmond. Extra special thanks to these Richmond businesses for their generosity: East Brother Beer Company, California Delicious, Your Way Pizza, The Living Apothecary, and Snazz Enterprises. And gratitude to Daud Abdullah for permission to share photo-paintings of GTS Band and SAMBAFUNK.
