Richmond Community Invited to Chill with a Cop at Free Ice Cream Social with Police Officers

Richmond, CA— Chill with a Cop, a free ice cream social with the Richmond Police Department, returns to Downtown Richmond on Saturday, August 19 from 11am – 1pm at the Community Green Space on Harbour Way and Macdonald Avenue.

“No agenda, just a delicious scoop of free ice cream and great conversation with your neighborhood police officers,” say Alicia Gallo, outreach coordinator. “We started this event as a one-time thing and it was really successful. Now we’re on our fourth year and it just keeps getting better.”

In addition to free ice cream and a chance to chat with police officers, Chill with a Cop will also feature crime prevention tips, a free book faire, chess play, and an exhibition Police vs. Fire chess match.

Chess play activities are provided by West Coast Chess Alliance as part of the organization’s Family Chess Days summer series where people of all ages are welcome to learn how to play and practice their game.

Admission is free. All are welcome.

Chill with a Cop is sponsored by Richmond Main Street Initiative, Richmond Police Department, West Coast Chess Alliance, and Lappert’s Ice Cream.
