How do you get active in East Bay parks? Showcase your best artwork of you, your friends and family getting active outdoors!

Enter in one of the following categories:

poster art, rap/spoken word, or video/skit/music video

Entrants must be residents of Contra Costa or Alameda counties, between the ages of 12-18.

A top prize of $500 will be awarded in each category. Other prizes include an iPod Touch, activity passes, and a camera.

Winners will be featured in the East Bay Regional Park District’s Healthy Parks Healthy People Festival in June, and in various EBRPD publications.

National Night Out celebrates with cities across the country on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.
National Night Out is a special night meant to:

* Build relationships with Community and Police
* Encourage residents to turn their porch lights on and employ crime prevention techniques
* Encourage neighbors to get to know one another
* Take back communities from crime and violence
* Build and rebuild neighborhood watch

The NNO Kick Off will once again is hosted by Target.The Crime Prevention Executive Board will choose the End Party.
If you are interested in hosting the end party, please send a proposal.City caravans with representatives consisting of
law enforcement, fire, and civic leaders will travel through the city’s three geographic police districts: north, central and southern.

If you want to learn some new ways to help you make the changes you want to see in our community, then we invite you to participate in a two-day training in community organizing on May 30-31, focusing in particular on a technique called Momentum Teams.
What Will you Learn?
Momentum Teams are action-oriented small groups of people who come together specifically to make specific, targeted changes in their community. Each Momentum Team’s members set the team’s goals and decide the actions they’re going to take. In this training, we will learn how to use Momentum Teams as a tool to advance our collective abilities to bring about the local changes we want to see.

Deadline to Apply: Friday, May 4, 2012 @5:00pm (Decisions will be announced May 14)

Limited Space 60 people max, and we encourage people to apply in teams of 2-3 people.
